Brightstone Legal is continuing to grow its office. In order to further expand its capacities in the areas of criminal law and commercial transactions, we welcome Alex Cao and Nicholas Lam to join our team recently. Alex has extensive experiences and diversified client rosters in his areas of expertise and will further strength our team especially in the areas of criminal law and traffic matters. Nicholas also has deep knowledge in the commercial sectors and will be a big supplement to our commercial team.
Alex Cao started his legal profession highly focusing on litigation. He has worked in various cases in different court jurisdictions. Mr Cao as the instructing solicitor, successfully enforced the first ever contested Chinese judgements in the Supreme Court in his early career. Mr Cao later found his passion and focused on criminal jurisdiction. He has had the carriage of countless complex criminal matters from AVO matters up to criminal charges would potentially impose over 15 years imprisonment.
Alex has an impressive track records of charge withdrawals, no-convictions, and minimal sentences. Alex’s primary areas of practice are litigations focusing on criminal jurisdiction.
Nicholas started his career in the private banking industry in Singapore, where he learnt invaluable financial and relationship management skills. He then moved back to Sydney to pursue a legal career as a commercial lawyer. After working with multiple Corporate M&A teams at international law firms, Nicholas began his post-admission career at a boutique law firm in Sydney specialising in property and commercial law. This allowed him to utilise his corporate experience to provide commercially astute legal advice tailored to his clients’ needs.
Nicholas mainly practises in commercial and corporate law, providing advisory on transactional matters, corporate governance and financial services. He also handles transactions related to commercial and residential properties such as leasing, franchising, mortgages and sale agreements for businesses, developments and residential housing. His background in banking & finance helps him to structure his advice to help clients to achieve the best legal and commercial outcome that they require.
